Who We Are

Harvest Milkweed and Eat Local Festival and Hay Ride

Date: October 26, 2017
Location:
FHI

The coming of fall in Florida brings with it our own, tropical version of a harvest festival: the annual Eat Local Week. For the 7th year in a row, Transition Sarasota presents a week-long celebration of local food and farming, with dozens of delicious and interesting events throughout Sarasota and Manatee counties.

Eat Local’s many events will focus on how what we eat and where it comes from impacts every aspect of our daily life, from our personal health and well-being to the health of our environment and economy. Whether you want to take one of the many educational tours to learn about our local plants or you want to sit down to savor a great meal prepared with local ingredients, this year’s festivities have something for your palate.

FHI will host a hayride, a visit with urban chickens, food sampling, entertainment and pumpkin painting booth to name a few. Come visit the permaculture farm, check out the green building and learn about circuits! All while tasting items grown in the garden right there at FHI!
