As the first green building open to the public in the United States, FHI’s “Florida House” has been educating the public and creating new regional markets for energy, water conservation, recycling, and landscape design for nearly 25 years. At FHI, innovation is our catalyst for change. Building a more desirable and sustainable future for our community is what drives us.
In 2015, the Toyota USA Foundation funded Florida House Institute’s “Home on Earth” Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education program for 5th Graders across the Gulf Coast of Florida. The program took energy concepts that were difficult to convey in the classroom and translated them to students through interactive and informative, hands-on learning stations.
Envisioning our future for the next 25 years has challenged us to clarify the unique value Florida House Institute brings to our community. The single best measure of our mission success is engaging citizens to preserve and create meaningful improvement in our community’s assets—social, economic, built, and natural. To deliver on this promise, we need your support and involvement. Please join us at the Florida House Institute, as we move from Exploration and Design into Action.
